Eventful year and pretty good at that. Three months of twelve, I partied. Well, not in the literal sense. Had two big fat holidays- one African and the other American- and that to me IS party time! Always fun to travel, see new places, meet faces- old and new. This year I can rightly say I lived life one vacation at a time!!
Smaller breaks included a trip to Aurangabad- visited good ol' IHMA in Aurangabad for our long awaited convocation ceremony. Since it happened after nearly two years of passing out of college, it was more of a re-union. Well, always good to meet old friends and acquaintances. A refreshing change! Also went to Bangalore as part of the Taj Sales Conference. A grand party for sure! Travel was by train almost by no choice, unexpectedly however that turned out to be the best part. Hyper as ever, I was christened "Chhota Chetan" by some of my colleagues & friends. No jokes!
So all the travel put together was one major 2010 highlight for me.
The most beautiful one though, has got to be the entry of my lovely niece into this world. Eight and a half months now, she's a born princess, a diamond-studded doll, with a dazzling smile, a crackling laughter, ever ready to light up our world. Every day is a new day with her and she has a new way of expressing every single moment. Cranky in a moment, excited in another, wondering in a moment, squealing in another. Nervous at first, I am eagerly learning the art of babysitting. That includes entertaining the baby-my favourite part, poo-poo and pee-pee cleaning, bathing, clothes changing- and the most difficult part is putting on a top or getting it off, making baby "mamam", sanitizing milk bottles, what have you. Yes, I also speak fluent baby-language now. Life has done a 360 and a heart-warming one at that!
This year also called for a job change. So after almost two and a half years of working with the Taj, I quit the place, took a kick-ass break to the US, got back to good ol' Mumbai, and managed to find myself a new job. It's going great; or like I always cross my fingers and say- so far so good. I don't work Saturdays unlike before, my timings rock, so does my dress code! The icing on the cake is good and so is the cake itself! My new colleagues refuse to sing "Sheila ki jawani", instead they are happy with "Peera ki jawani". Well, so am I!
It's 30th Dec 2010, and I still don't know what my plans for tomorrow night are. De-javu- and crystal clear at that!
I vividly remember how I spent the transition between 2009 & 2010. Plan-less yet again, my best friend and I went resto hopping in Banrda.... we settled for a nice dinner at a popular resto-bar, followed by dessert at another place, and then finally coffee at another. We drink, but we drink tea, coffee, cokes & pepsis & cocktails with an M. We had to take a rickshaw to get home and the rickshaw driver dawned a bright orange sweater with creepy golden threads standing as though they were electrocuted. Well, maybe they were. Enroute home, we see this guy, in the middle of nowhere, digging the sky with his telescope. Much for his familiar face, bald head & red t-shirt, we realize he was also at the resto-bar where we were earlier that night. So we made a new friend, too!
Weird how I end this post with how I began 2009. I am looking forward to a great year, and I cant help being optimistic. More on that maybe later.
Cheers people & happy 2011!
